For the majority of the Elven military, the younger Elves spend their first years as scouts for their more seasoned allies, learning how to move without being seen and to mark targets for later use. While most scouts begrudge the post and see it as necessary training, there are a select few that find the task exhilarating. Medain is one such scout, and although he is barely into his teen years by Elven lifespan, he has a greater mastery of scouting than most veterans. Medain's swiftness, silence and keen eyesight have aided the Elven army in locating and eradicating invaders into their forests on a level that only magic can duplicate. When King Terynian announced participation in the Master's games, Medain eagerly requested to join, and despite his youth and inexperience, Terynian saw a determination and latent ability in the boy that he believes will secure victory at the tournament.
