While many Elves believe that magic is a natural force and should be treated as any other element. Just as many, however, believe that magic is unnatural, and can only used be to warp the world to suit selfish ends. Ferlan is one such Elf, having witnessed firsthand the destruction that the magi of Parnath are capable of. His border homeland was attacked and ravaged by a rogue mage, and the Elves were at the complete mercy of the mad wizard until the Parnath authorities pursued and subdued him. It was then that Ferlan was convinced that only the corrupt and insane truly dedicate themselves to magic. He began to train in techniques that specialize in destroying magic-users. Years later, when Lindir selected his team for the Master's games, Ferlan's reputation as an unrivaled mage-killer made him a clear choice to represent the splintered nation.
